Extremity Conditions We Treat
Extremity pain can affect movement, comfort, and daily function—whether it develops suddenly or builds over time. At Slone Healthcare Clinics, we evaluate arm and leg symptoms to identify contributing factors such as joint dysfunction, muscle strain, and nerve irritation, then create personalized care plans designed to support recovery and long-term function.
Arm & Leg Pain
Arm and leg pain can result from joint irritation, muscle strain, arthritis, bursitis, tendinitis, or nerve involvement. In many cases, symptoms develop gradually and the original cause isn’t obvious. Pain may also be “referred,” meaning discomfort felt in the arm or leg is influenced by irritation elsewhere in the body. We frequently see arm and leg symptoms linked to nerve irritation at the spine, especially when the spaces where nerves exit the spine become narrowed. A thorough evaluation helps determine the source and guide appropriate care.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome can occur when the median nerve becomes compressed at the wrist, leading to symptoms such as tingling, burning pain, numbness, or weakness in the hand. Some patients notice symptoms most in the thumb and first few fingers, or a sensation of swelling even when swelling isn’t visible. Causes aren’t always clear, but wrist injury, repetitive hand use, and certain occupational stresses may contribute. In some cases, nerve irritation can also be influenced by the spine, especially when symptoms occur in both arms. Identifying contributing factors helps guide conservative care options.
Shoulder Pain
The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body, which makes it vulnerable to a wide range of injuries and movement issues. Shoulder pain may develop suddenly after an accident or activity, or slowly over time due to repetitive strain or abnormal motion patterns. In many cases, shoulder symptoms are influenced by the neck and upper back, since the nerves and muscles that control shoulder movement originate there. Because causes vary widely, accurate diagnosis is essential. Our team uses clinical history, orthopedic evaluation, and imaging when appropriate to determine the most effective plan.
